Parenting WorkshopsBeing a parent is such a tough job that it demands honest answers. That's the motivation behind our Breaking Free Parenting Workshops. This is not a class in parenting theory--but in parenting reality. The purpose of the Breaking Free Parenting Workshop is to teach parents how to have a better relationship with their kids and give them practical tools to parent their children. Our goals also include building relationships with the families and introducing them to a relationship with Jesus Christ and the local church. We try to make it easy for the parents to attend by breaking down any possible barriers which might prevent them from attending. So all sessions are FREE. Each week, dinner for the entire family is provided by local partner churches. We also provide childcare and activities for children birth to 6th grade. Topics include:
Small Groups of 8 to 10 parents are overseen by mentoring couples and are designed to encourage parents to build relationships with each other as a way of meeting each other's needs. Typical workshop space allows for 40 parents and 80 youth to attend. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Parenting Workshops have been offered in the following communities: Spanaway, Parkland, Lakewood, Gig Harbor, University Place, Graham, Tacoma North End and Eastside. Workshops are held in Spring and Fall of every year, in additional to occasional one night events.
