With over 20 years of experience working with young people through the YMCA, Tom (TG) Gorospe brings contagious energy, care for others, and a desire to make an impact for the Kingdom to his role as City Life Director.

TG let us in on a bit about his life and why he’s excited to be part of the YFC team:

What are you excited about in your new role?

TG:  To be able to lead the City Life staff team and help empower them to become great youth leaders who effectively reach lost youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through their programs.

Why YFC?

TG:  I believe in the YFC mission of being able to reach lost Pierce County youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Besides Jesus, your family, etc., what’s something you love/are passionate about? Or a hobby you have?

TG: I’m passionate about working out and taking care of my physical body as much as possible so I can stay healthy for God’s call on my life and also for my children and grandchildren. I’m also passionate about playing pickleball. (If you’ve met TG, you know the pickleball love runs deep!)

What’s the best book you’ve read lately?

TG: No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green by Melody Green

What’s the best prank you’ve ever pulled? 

TG: Hiding under my supervisor’s desk without him knowing and then scaring the crap out of him as he approached his desk. I did it twice within a week and was successful in both attempts! 

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

TG: If it has a bun, then it’s a sandwich to me. So, yes.

Having TG on staff at Tacoma YFC is a gift! There is tremendous opportunity for holistic, gospel-centric ministry in neighborhoods and urban areas, and TG will help pour “gas” on the fire of what God is doing in the Lincoln area, Lakewood, and our growing ministry at Tacoma Rescue Mission.
