We asked our staff and a few friends why they give, wherever they give. These are their answers:
- “I love to give because God has been so good to me. Giving, blessing others, brings me such joy!” — Bobby Arkills, Executive Director
- “I believe in what the organizations do and to enable others to use the talents they have that I don’t. Win win!” — Lori Osborn, Development Assistant
- “I’m really convicted by the scriptures, especially 2 Corinthians 8:13-15. “Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, as it is written: ‘He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little.‘” We see these principles being lived out in Acts 2:44 and Acts 4:32, which were two massive movements of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. I also believe that our giving (time, talents and treasures) are a direct correlation with our faith and trust in God, and He always honors/blesses our trust in Him. In other words, my giving is a direct display of devotion to Him.” — Doug Jonson, Development Officer
- “Honestly, a lot of times I don’t feel very generous-I’d like to work on that. But when I am generous, I give because I believe the money I give will be used for things I believe are important and Jesus-oriented and centered.” — Ericka Wallace, Spanaway Lake Campus Life Site Leader
- “I give because it’s God’s heart to be generous. He’s given us so much, and there’s so much He can do with whatever we offer up.” — SaraBeth Wadsworth, Thomas Middle School Campus Life Military Site Leader
- “God taught my heart a long time ago to give. All is from Him and for Him. Not always obedient, but always blessed.” — Leslie Yohann, Office Manager
- “I give because it is an act of worship. It is acknowledging God’s faithfulness time and time again. Nothing I have is from me. It is all because of Him.” — Tim Smyth, Church Engagement Coordinator
- “I am generous in my neighborhood first because they are my direct and literal neighbors. In my community for similar reasons. I believe God has placed my family in a strategic location for the purpose of enacting good. To share and live for him in the context of my local area. Also, we give to organizations who align we feel support similar beliefs and who have a compelling vision and mission.” — Timothy Chavira, Community Director
- “I believe my money is going to actually benefit underserved people and to help a ministry or group go from good to better, especially if they would struggle otherwise.” — Anabelle Chambers, Parent Life Coordinator
